Q: What happened to the crickets?
The economic downturn caught up with Crazy Carl’s Cricket Farm last August and we were forced to shutdown the cricket operation at the end of November. Our business plan relied on a steady rate of growth, and while we enjoyed that month over month, our growth flattened in August. Having exhausted our financial options, and not having adequate operating capital, we had no choice but to close down the cricket production. This was an extremely difficult decision for Kathleen and myself as the farm had been doing so well and held so much promise. We downsized our operations focusing on the mealworm production moving to a new location.
Q: Do you guarantee live delivery on your mealworms?
A: Yes we guarantee live delivery provided certain conditions are met. Please visit our guarantee page for additional information. We take extreme care to ensure that the mealies we so lovingly raised arrive at your doorstep safe and sound.
Q: What size mealworms do you sell?
A: We currently only offer grown adult mealworms ranging in size from 1/2 to approximately 1” inch. We employ an intense nurtured growth technique here on the farm to ensure the highest quality product.
Q: I need mealies every other week. Do you accept standing orders?
A: We have a great standing order program that ensures a steady supply of mealworms of the highest quality. You tell us how frequently you want delivery, what size and how many. We input the order the day prior to shipping which e-mails a notification and allows you the opportunity to alter the order based on your supply if necessary. Let us help you make your ordering process quick and easy! E-mail us at cccricketfarm@gmail.com .
Q: What shipping carriers do you use?
A: We use FedEx ground for all statesalong the eastern seaboard with next day delivery for most of New England. For other locations we use FedEx Standard Overnight and FedEx 2Day.
Q: Can I pick-up my order personally at the farm and do you deliver?
A: Unfortunately at this point, due to our location and various other issues we can no longer offer pick-up nor delivery. All orders will be shipped via Fed-Ex.
Q: Are your mealworms free of other pest insects?
A: When a shipment leaves our farm it contains mealworms and only mealworms. Our unique process is designed to ensure a clean environment that is entirely pest free. There are no other unwanted insects.
Q: Do you accept personal checks or money orders.
A: Yes we will accept personal checks and money orders, any form of payment except your first born or other livestock. We also offer Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, American Express and PayPal as payment options.
Q: How do you ship when it’s cold out and does it cost extra?
A: We take extreme care to ensure that the mealworms we so lovingly raised arrive at your doorstep safe and sound. We will provide cold weather packaging which can include an insulated box plus heat packs where temperatures are predicted to fall below 40 degrees. There is no additional charge for this special packaging. We will hold off shipments where the predicted temperatures are too extreme to ensure live delivery.
Q: Do you ship everyday of the week?
A: We ship Monday through Friday depending on location and transit time. All shipments must be scheduled to arrive by Saturday so that they don’t spend the weekend in a cold or hot terminal. FedEx Home delivery will deliver to you home address on Saturdays.
